Stanley Kubrick, coincidence and The Guardian
There's a Stanley Kubrick exhibition at my local museum. It's been on for several weeks and continues for several more. I knew I wanted to see it, and for no particular reason I went there today. I hadn't any plan to go until I was walking past and reminded myself it was on.
It was great having the place to myself, as there was no one else visiting the exhibition during the 45 minutes or so that I was there, so I got to enjoy the various videos, the posters, the mocked-up Evening Standard newspaper for Clockwork Orange (containing the real news about the building in Watford of what was to become the Harlequin Centre).
I continued my walk into St Albans and called into a cafe that I'd never been to before (and I've been to most), and read their copy of the Guardian (which I rarely read on a Tuesday) while drinking a not-bad espresso. Still searching for a good coffee in St Albans, since attending barista training. One of the articles on the leader page was in praise of... Stanley Kubrick and the exhibition I'd just left.
That was a real hairs-standing-on-end coincidence. Anyway, notes made and back to the office now. All play and no work makes Jack a dull boy. Or something.
