One of my improvisation recommendations is to ‘Inhabit the moment‘.
But which moment are you inhabiting? I love the model that suggests we have 3 senses of time. These are:
- What am I doing now, today?
- Where does this sit in my lifetime?
- And where are our lives embedded in the epoch or the age?
Recently I gave a presentation about materials I’ve donated to my college library. ‘They called me a hoarder, but it turned out I’m an archivist’. [Pic from event above]
Speaking live about an archive brings together that triple time stream. Here we are today. This is how it was when we were at university. And we gather in an institution that can take a perspective of centuries.
I wonder if the most enjoyable instances of Inhabiting the moment are precisely those when we have a sense of all three harmoniously synchronising.
What are your stories of inhabiting the moment?
