Some meetings are a waste of time. Some are necessary if not enthralling. Often we can do better.
Here’s one way to give your meetings a much better prospect of success. Start at the end!
That means pitching everyone forward in time as soon as you are all gathered together.
You can ask, ‘Suppose it’s 4.45 this afternoon and we walk away from the best retreat ever… What will we walk away with?’ Or the equivalent for your event.
It helps to make a list of everyone’s answers. You may want to find out which items matter the most for your group.
Then everyone can consider if achieving just one (or two) from the list would be a great result.
We’ve agreed what a good outcome would be – and now we have a more focused and intentional group ready to get there.
